Battery Waste EPR Registration is a legal requirement for all producers, importers, and brand owners of batteries under the Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022. The registration enforces Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), ensuring that manufacturers take responsibility for the collection, recycling, and environmentally safe disposal of used batteries.
Batteries contain toxic chemicals such as lead, cadmium, mercury, and lithium, which can severely impact soil, water, and human health if disposed of improperly. EPR ensures these hazardous materials are safely collected, recycled, or treated to minimize environmental harm.

- Compile necessary documents such as GST, company registration, sales data, and agreements with recyclers or collection centers.
- Submit EPR plan and documents to CPCB or respective SPCB/PCC for review and approval.
- CPCB/SPCB officials scrutinize the application and may request clarifications within 25 days.
- Upon successful review, EPR Authorization is granted for 5 years with annual reporting requirements.
